Question: Natalee Holloway

Do you believe the Natalee Holloway investigation is receiving unfair media coverage compared to other like cases? Why or why not?

No, but i understand why people might see a bias. Still, the news can't cover every story and people are interested in this one of they wouldn't be covering it.

I am not sure if it's fair to say that people are interested in it...the issue of whether the media covers what's interesting to the people or determines what is interesting is more difficult than the whole "which came first, the chicken or the egg" question. I personally don't see what is so unique about this case, sad as it is, that causes it to receive so much attention. I hope Jared comes over and joins in on the discussion though...I'm eager to hear him share what he thinks.

At least one good thing is that from all the attention this case has received, it's brought other similar cases back in the light again. Whether or not those cases should have gotten the same attention when they happened, at least they've gotten some, although still minimal, now.

I think it's hard to argue that it's NOT being overcovered. Nancy Grace and Greta Van Sustern (sp?) have devoted their entire shows now to the topic. Not just A show, though, every show is devoted to it. If they were really fascinated and desiring to help missing persons out I could understand an occasional show dedicated to it, but every show is an example of overexposure. In my opinion, that is.

i think it depends on how you view the media. i personally am tired of seeing this on the news. i think it's an unfortunate incident, but i also think the girl and her parents were foolish in their choices and we shouldn't be surprised that a small foreign country might have corrupt law enforcement. but i also don't think the media reports what is important. they're a business and they report what sells and people evidently like to hear about missing middle class white girls who were dumb enough to leave a bar in a foreign country with three guys. i think it's overcovered based on importance, but stories that are important are not the driving force of the media and i don't really expect that from them.

Thank goodness God is concerned about those of us who make stupid choices, and not just innocent victims...
